December news

Not quite a week into Summer and on the back end of one of the wettest Novembers on record, a slight greenish tinge has tainted Port Phillip Bay, this colouring is mainly due to storm water, swollen rivers and creeks flowing into the bay.  Unfortunately, these water flows impact negatively with pollution affecting water quality.
Having said that, our first readings of 18 degrees C have been had last weekend at the top end of the bay whilst the bottom of the bay still hovered around the 16 and 17 mark.
November was a busy month diving wise with several new divers joining the SCUBA CUTURE family as well as others who have come to us as a result of getting back into diving and we take this opportunity to welcome these new divers.
November was also for us, MOVEMBER with a club dive organised in support of Men’s Health Issues and Suicide awareness and prevention.  What a successful and great day it was for all involved who joined us on the bus, on the boat and at St Andrews Beach Brewery for the event.  The event raised $816 for MOVEMBER and this wouldn’t have been possible without your support and enthusiasm, and we say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who participated, donated and got behind our endeavour.  Thank you to Redboats who also donated funds from the boat dive.

During November a number of our club members attained their “Master Diver Status” and were given their SSI Master Diver recognition card.  Congratulations to all.  Many of our club members are also very close to obtaining this status having to only complete their Stress & Rescue course or get a few more dives up.  If you think that may be you, why not book on our next Stress and Rescue course scheduled for:

Theory evening: 7 March 2019
Dives: 9 & 10 March 2019
