March kicked off with a massive club night when we hosted the Victorian Fisheries department who delivered a most entertaining and informative presentation to yet another great crowd in attendance.  The speakers provided us with an interesting insight into their day to day work as well as some of their more sophisticated “stings” apprehensions and convictions of law breakers.
Some of the images of seizures were unfathomable, and how some people think that they can get away with what they’re doing is hard to believe.  Bag limits exist for a reason and as divers it’s incumbent upon us to ensure that we do everything in our power to protect the future of our marine environment.

Weather wise, the stretch of consistent warm days kept on keeping on until March 22, with an unprecedented amount of divers taking part in club dives and training activities, so much so that we had to increase our volume of hire tanks to cater for the demand over the long weekend, but mother nature’s always got one up her sleeve hitting us right between the eyes on the end of the month of March with some feral weather, howling 40 knot Westerly winds knocked all our dives on the head for the courses and club dives of the 30^th.

On the training front, many divers took up opportunities to take their diving to new levels with another combined Deep/Wreck program run by Christine, an XR Nitrox course run by Al, 2 back to back Rescue courses run by Mick, a night diver course run by Sue and 2 Open Water programs welcoming new divers to the sport
